Story Of the Day: Anthony Weiner Beats Man With A Bat

This is the single greatest and most confusing story I have ever encountered. A Boston man with the same name as the perpetually sexting New York politician has been tossed in jail for beating a 21 year old man that he caught "wooing his wife."

It sounds crazy because it totally is. Anthony Weiner, 25 (again, not the same Weiner that's been tossing his schlong around), apparently sexted a 21 year old man under the guise of his wife in order to lure him to his house. He then reportedly tied the man to a chair and proceeded to beat the living shit out of him with a wooden bat. But because the universe is hilariously dark and because Weiner decided that he didn't have enough phallic objects in this torture scene, he then threatened the man with a power drill and a BB gun.

Still not as scary as this picture.
Weiner finally released the poor dude when he began to vomit because, ew vomit is gross. After later being arrested, he immediately admitted to his crimes, putting him a step ahead of his New York counterpart when it comes to tact. (You know, aside from the whole pummeling a dude within an inch of his life)

But wait! There's more! This wasn't the first time that Weiner had displayed his absolutely insanity and violent tendencies. At his wedding reception one year prior, he allegedly punched his mother-in-law in the face because she had gotten in a fight with his own mother. This is the most white trash I've seen in one place since Black Friday at Wal Mart.

Sure, there are a lot of traumatized people in this situation and making light of it is insensitive, but this has to be the greatest goddamn thing ever to happen to the world of comedy. I've only lightly touched on the comedic potential of this story. I gift it to you and hope that you carry it with you like a closely guarded dick picture on your iPhone. Unlike that picture, however, I request that you show it to all of your friends and family.

Fox News Fuck Ups

Because they are aplenty. The news with the least informed viewers is an ever flowing font of humor and a blessing for douchebags like me. Today's Fox News fuck up is simple, yet elegant.

I'm not sure which is funnier: That they misspelled "wooly" or that Fox News has a Science and Technology Editor. I report, you decide.

The Morning WTF: Woman Buys iPhones, Gets Apples Instead

Welcome to The Morning WTF! This is going to be the first recurring blog post as it garnered the most attention yesterday. I hope it continues to do so. To briefly explain, The Morning WTF is made up of three categories: Weird, Topical, and Funny. I scroll through my lovely little RSS feed every morning and pick out three stories that each fall under one of those categories and then I deliver them to you. Let's get started!

Weird: First the Bees, Now the Dolphins?

As revealed to the world by M. Night Shyamalan, the bees are dying and no one (scientists) knows why. But that's not the only animal that's apparently dying in troves. Along the East Coast and Virginia in particular, dolphins have been washing up on shore, dead as Shyamalan's career.

It was reported that five dolphins washed up on the Virginia shore on Thursday alone and in July there were "nearly four dozen dead dolphins." (Both the greatest use of alliteration I've ever seen and a fantastic band name)

While most of these animals are being found in the southern Chesapeake Bay, there have been deaths reported up and down the east coast. Delaware, Maryland and New Jersey are among the states to have reported such deaths.

Not that things washing up in Jersey is news.

So why are they dying? No one really knows for sure. Scientists in Virginia are saying the deaths are reminiscent of the mass deaths in 1987 that were attributed to morbillivirus, a virus similar to the measles. Whatever the reason, workers are working their asses off and are underfunded despite donations, grants and contracts. Hopefully media attention will hasten their work and grant them enough donations to figure out what the hell mother nature is doing with our darling water humans. I just hope that Hollywood doesn't decide that this means that we need to be hit with another shitty movie.

The Happening: Even Vaguer Than Last Time

Topical: Suicide Attackers Kill Civilians Near Indian Consulate

Taking a brief turn for the serious (and slightly more morbid), nine Afghan civilians were killed on Saturday in a failed attack on the Indian consulate  by three suicide attackers. Most of the victims were children.

In addition to the nine dead, it was reported that 24 bystanders received injuries, including a policeman. Consistent with the concept of suicide, The New York Times would like me to inform you that the three attackers are also dead. None of the Indian officials within the consulate were harmed.

Funny: An Apple a Day Keeps the iPhones Away

But enough of that sad shit, let's all have a laugh at the expense of someone else's stupidity! A 21 year old woman from Brisbane, Australia put an ad in the classifieds that said she was interested in buying some iPhones. Because why have just one? When she received an offer, she proceeded to meet with a woman at a McDonald's where the soon-to-be hilarious woman gave her two iPhone boxes. The recipient failed to check inside the boxes, resulting in the following ordeal. Upon arriving home, the woman opened the iPhone Boxes to find an apple inside each.

Yes, that kind of apple.

Furious, that she just spent $1500 on fruit she reported the crime to the police and, I imagine, became the laughing stock of Australia. Senior Constable, Jess Hopkin from the Upper Mt. Gravatt Crime Prevention Unit said what was on all of our minds: "If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. It's really just common sense."

Yes, meeting a woman at a McDonald's and then handing her $1500 for two boxes without checking them is pretty stupid. But telling the world that you did so is even dumber. And for that, ma'am, we thank you.

That's it for The Morning WTF! What did you think of today's post? Leave a comment down below, like the page on facebook, tweet about it, and generally just rave about me to your friends. As always, thank you for reading and check in later today for more posts. There's more wit to come so stay tuned!

Story of the Day: The Snowden Saga

I am trying out different daily categories so don't be surprised if some pop up every day and if others never happen again. Feedback is important and ideas for recurring blog posts are welcome. And if your idea sucks, you will be the subject of derision and intense mocking but will still get recognition. And people say the world isn't fair.

Today's super serious news story is Edward Snowden's departure from the Moscow airport that no one can pronounce the name of. After forty days of sitting around reading Dostoevsky and Chekhov in an attempt to learn about Russian culture, he was finally granted temporary asylum in the country of perpetual disaster. After hours (seconds) of mind-numbing (minimal) research, we here at The Daily Wit were able to acquire the first picture of Snowden in Moscow.

The question that now sits in everyone's mind is how this will affect US-Russian relations. Obviously this sort of decision puts the already unstable relationship on even shakier ground. How will United States politicians respond to such a defiant act by our favorite frenemy? It would seem that when you have a congress mostly populated by old white men, you get exactly what you'd expect: Irritated feather ruffling and a lot of empty threats.

Notorious windbag, John Mccain, struck fear into the hearts of every Russian politician when he stated that there would be "serious repercussions." Because there's nothing more frightening than a man famous for being a former prisoner and presidential race loser. Slightly less full of wind, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is apparently furious with Russia and stated that, "Russia has stabbed us in the back." Funny coming from a government that stabbed its 300 million citizens in the back. (See: PRISM, relationship with big banks, war profiteering, consistent lying to the American public, etc.)

I don't know what the future holds for our foreign relations with Russia and I'm still not sure how I feel about the NSA leak. I'm still developing these opinions in my head. But, reason aside, acting huffy because another country took one of your toys and won't give it back isn't the way to garner the love of the very pissed off American public. Perhaps some transparency and begging of forgiveness would be in order as opposed to sitting back and waving off our questions and issues with an annoyed, irritated hand. Food for thought.

Leave your comments down below! What are your thoughts on Snowden, the NSA, Russia, and the general reaction to it all? I'd love to hear what you have to say. Please share with your friends and tell them to like my shit. I require followers to survive.

Cloudy With a Chance of Sharks

It's day two and the world is as batshit crazy as ever. Let's take a look at today's weird opening act in The Morning Review! This is the part of the show where we take a rapid look at the weirdest/most disturbing shit currently happening on the internet.

 Meanwhile, in the Czech Republic...

If you've ever been on the internet, you're probably aware of Pastafarianism, a "religion" in which its "congregation"...."believes" in a flying spaghetti monster that created the universe after a night out drinking with his (her?) friends. Obviously, this absurd take on creationism is a snide remark on religion as a whole, implying that you can say anything and people will believe it.

But what started as a comment on religion has now entered the physical world in the form of a pasta strainer on a man's head.

Exactly what I said.

According to the Daily Mail, Lukas Novy, a citizen of the Czech Republic, cited his religious faith and the country's freedom of religion in a very warranted attempt to wear this fuckin' thing on his head. Luckily, insane heads prevailed and Lukas was granted the right to wear it, much to the delight of every person on the internet ever. Keep fighting the good fight, Mr. Novy.

 What The Fuck, CNN?

This category may become its own later on down the road. There's just way too much material to work with. But in today's WTF CNN?, wannabe news anchor, A.J. Hammer (no known relation to Armie Hammer or MC Hammer) reports the hardest hitting news story of the day: the Sharknado inspired bikini.  Creatively named the "sharkini", this new fashion choice will be a way for the several drunk male fans of the movie to finally see what a woman's midriff looks like.

Not to mention, the outside world.

And who better to weigh in on this newest addition to the fashion world than obscure, black comedian, Loni Love. After shamelessly plugging her book, Love Him or Leave Him, Love goes on to humorously suggest that she will be gifting this to all of her friends. That's not weird. What's weird is that HLN gave her "thirty seconds on the clock" to actually talk about a fucking bikini.

But I suppose this shouldn't be a surprise considering HLN only climbs out of its puddle of irrelevance when there are victims to be exploited and trials to cover endlessly. I'm just happy that they didn't ask Nancy Grace what she thought of the sharkini. I can only imagine she would have come to the conclusion that it was racist and that it was responsible for the death of Jimmy Hoffa.

I am sure there is a lot more weird shit to cover but time is short and so am I. Leave your comments down below and tell me what you think! Do you like weird news in the morning? Would you prefer I do it at night? I plan on doing several different segments, but if you have any ideas, feel free to pelt them at my face. Thank you for reading and tell your friends!

Welcome to The Daily Wit!

Yeah, what the title said! I am overjoyed that you are reading my blog. I haven't been this excited since birth.

My name is James Chatham and I am a blogger of fine things. My work in the past includes Facebook rants about Halloween, Santorum's nose, and why I didn't like high school. (It was REALLY hard) This blog shall be a place for me to continue writing about shit that I deem funny and that you shall laugh at with minimal coercion.

But, in somewhat seriousness, this blog is a place for entertainment; yours, namely. I write for myself as an extension of writing for you. I believe that a blog should aim to please its audience as opposed to being a masturbatory soapbox of perpetual ranting. Don't get me wrong, there will be ranting, soapboxes and masturbating, but they will be relevant and humorous rather than moody and highfalutin. (Moody masturbation is the WORST)

I have written and rewritten this introductory post numerous times in an attempt to sound as funny and entertaining as possible but, in the end, have decided to just be candid. There will be laughs to be had later on down the road (our absurd world guarantees that) and this blog is still a work in progress. What you see here today is the product of several weeks' preparation. I would come on every week or so and add a little thing here, or a bit of CSS there. The only thing it needs now is daily content and readers to enjoy it. Sometimes that content will be serious and sometimes it'll be journalistic, but mainly it will just be witty. Please join me in taking a look at the world we live in while throwing peanuts at it from the balcony in between snarky remarks. Whether you're merely passing through or here to stay, welcome to The Daily Wit.
